Hypocratic Indian Society

Lord Madhav with his love - Radha

For those who do not understand Hindi, I will translate this for you. I am sure Google translator will fail for above lines :) Please excuse me for a non rhythmic translation of beautiful lines written above.

If a bumble bee goes crazy for a flower (White Lotus) then there is a chaos,
If my heart starts dreaming then there is a chaos.

Till now we used to watch and listen romantic stories,
If I converted this story into my reality, then there is a chaos.

Above lines describe Indian Society's Hypocrisy very nicely. India has so many romantic tales from history (Lord Krishna and Radha, read here) and every Bollywood movie has a featured love story. People here are so fond of watching these movies, listening to epics and praising the love stories. No wonder Bollywood had given so many super hit romantic movies.
Now let us face reality. India, specially Northern India and states of Haryana, Punjanb and Delhi are known for honor killings. Can you beat that! 5,000 women and girls a year are killed by members of their own families in the name of honor killing. That makes it on an avg. 15 kills per day. No wonder newspapers are filled with such information every day in Delhi.
While honor killing is an extreme step, the remaining love stories are often seen with corner of eyes. It is a customary for parents to believe that their kins will marry as per their choice and this right comes since they have given birth and have raised them up. It is not that an arranged marriage lasts longer than a love marriage or there are any particular benefits of arranged marriage. Which one is better? It is just a debatable issue with equal votes for both the sides.

The hypocrisy of society is such that the whole society starts seeing the love couple as villains of the new era who will spoil the whole neighborhood. What if my son follows the same steps and marries by his own wish! And then starts the trauma process wherein everybody in society will start giving their 'gyaan' and also starts pushing the couple's parents to stop their kin to go for a love marriage. Little they care about the happiness and compatibility of couple.
What a hypocrisy!
