Weekend trips - June 2016

I am visiting my wife in Virginia for a month in June. We plan to keep 1 day in a week to see new places and take break from long hours of work during the week. These experiences are turning out so amazing that I want to blog them. It may inspire us to leave our homes and travel more!

Check out all clicks here in the album. I am including a few selected ones in this blog itself.

First weekend visit - Airbnb at Chincoteague Island, Virginia

We booked a sea facing house and went there with 2 other couples. The highlight of the visit was the beautiful house we stayed in. It had an enormous backyard facing backwaters. I could see green land as far as my eyes could see. It was a very quite and serene neighborhood. Not only house enjoyed spectacular location, it was very beautiful from inside. French windows, amazing air circulation inside, big kitchen and a sun room made it a very comfortable and calming home.

The rose garden the house was as amazing. I have never seen as many roses in a garden other than in botanical gardens :P House had a good collection of books and I spent my time reading books, chilling in sun room and doing yoga there early in the morning.
Me flying kite in the ocean

We also went to beach for some time. There was nothing unusual about the beach except that we jumped in water the minute we reached there. It was a rough sea and we had a good time taking our ground against the strong waves that were crashing hard on the shore. I flew kite in the ocean - there was no fun but it gave Juhi a nice click :)

Second weekend visit - Camping at Pocahontas State Park, Virginia

We love camping and there are numerous camping sites in Virginia. We have a nice tent, a ice cooler and that is all you need to camp. We booked a site at Pocahontas state park and reached there in afternoon. Till now all our camps have been on water front campsites, however we couldn't find any water front site here. We love water and prefer camping next to a natural creek or a river.
Anyway we set up our tent in the forest which was pretty much secluded from neighboring campsites. Soon after that it started raining and all we knew it would be difficult to set up fire for bonfire. As rain stopped in 30 mins, we gathered some dry wood and did your best to get fire going in next 1 hr. We barbecued mushrooms, sweet corn, cottage cheese and brussels sprouts.

Next day was really fun. I went for an hour long hike in the forest and explored the jungle nearby. We then canoed in swift creek which was the best part of the day. It was a very secluded creek in the middle of the forest. Trees were hanging on the narrow boat ways and were adding a scary excitement as we canoed. Later we went to a botanical park in Richmond where there were many cool artifacts made of legos.
