Sachin Tendulkar is no God!

With India storming into World Cup 2011 finals, everybody is bleeding blue. All the news headlines, facebook comments, tweets, SMS they all have the same matter. I am sure all these wins would have brought smiles to millions of people in India and have definitely made us all proud.
While Indian players are riding horse of victory, their fan clubs are increasing in count and size. True, they have played professionally and deserve their credit of appreciation. They are really getting treated like heroes of nation, and probably the best among them, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, is even considered to be the god. Now that tickles my funny bone and also seriously surprises me for following good reasons:

• Aren't we just hyping it? Or aren't we playing in the matrix created by media to commercialize cricket?
• Isn't he just a guy who is good at his job? 
• Aren't there people who have worked harder and achieved better results in their respective jobs? Are we being fair to them by not acknowledging them a bit and treating our cricketers as heroes of nation? For e.g. there are 150 workers who have willingly risked their lives in Japan's nuclear reactors to save their country. How many of us know them? Or how many of us know about the hard working folks in engineering industry who are improving our lives everyday? For e.g. mobiles have revolutionized our lives and have completely changed the way we communicate in just a decade!

By any inference, I do not mean that Sachin is not a great guy. He is a wonderful batsman and probably a good human. But that's it! No more!
I would prefer to call God to those who have made my world more livable, though I am thankful to Sachin for giving me a few delightful moments. I would not be surprised to know that many purchase 'Luminous Battery' or 'Castrol Engine Oil' just because Sachin Tendulkar, a good cricket player, is advertising them.
